  • England Rugby December 2008 Monthly Review
The December monthly review at Unofficial England Rugby. December was a relatively quiet month in terms of England rugby, although the biggest story was the official draw for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. With IRB Rankings being used for the first time, English rugby fans were crossing their fingers for a favourable draw. As well as this we have Sevens results from George and more

  • Gloucester lose Volcano for the season
Gloucester winger Lesley Vainikolo is out for the rest of the season after having an operation on a ruptured achilles tendon. In fact, the giant winger is not expected to be fit to train properly for up to seven months, which means he’ll just be ready in time to start pre-season training in the summer.

  • Leeds Carnegie 28 Rotherham Titans 3
The pitch was beautifully prepared. The team were confident, fit, and raring to go. With plenty of sensible clothing I removed myself from the cosy fireside-like comfort of the Supporters Club Lounge at 2.45pm, (where Bath were looking comfortable against Leicester on the big telly) to the sub-zero starkness of the newly upholstered South Stand.

  • England Under 18s Six Nations Festival 2009
The England Under 18s squad to compete in this season's Six Nations Festival has been announced. The squad of 26 players has been selected from the Rugby Football Union's Regional Academy system and includes 12 players who ran out for the Under 18s side last season in either the Six Nations Festival or the Development Tour to Argentina.

In biting cold with a wind howling off the south downs across the all-weather rugby pitch at Brighton RFC, Harlequins A ran in five tries to ensure a win and a try bonus against Worcester Warriors A in the Guinness A League last night by 27 – 15.

  • A tale of two Wills
It was at some time during the 1990/1 season that a 6 year old Will Bowley, playing for Kettering U8s, first played against a certain Will Skinner who was playing for Olney. This was the start of probably the longest rivalry that will be seen in this weeks Worcester v Harlequins game.

  • The Secrets Of India's Success In 2008
In 2008 Mahendra Singh Dhoni presented Chess Grandmaster and World Champion Viswanathan Anand with a Rs. 5 lakh diamond ring for dominating all forms of competitive Chess: Knock-Out, Round-Robin and Match Play. That got me thinking that Dhoni & Co. acheived a similar feat in Cricket and so here are my "Secrets of India's Success in 2008" with a somewhat corny chess analogy.

  • Out with the Old.....
2009 is here and we now look forward to a new campaign in all formats with a slightly different line-up and slightly different objectives? Cricket is changing we're told do we go with it? Well there's 'change or die' and there's 'standards must be maintained'. Are they mutually exclusive os is there room for change while keeping the old guard happy? Hmmmmm

  • Oh Kriky 2008 Is Over!
So many writing on the year that went by, how could i not be in the bandwagon. The end credits...DRUM ROLLLLLLLLSSSSSSS.... Adios 2008 and may the next year go as fast as all the 2008 before it. Darn! I just heard one more hair turn gray on my head.
